Chennaipy - November meetup 2024 Minutes
Nov 23 ⎯ # November meetup minutes We have around 40 + head count. As usual we started with an introduction. We have more first timers. Vijay gave an intro to Chennaipy and what the meetup is all about. Meetup is more like networking with people who are like minded. ## Talk 1 Introduction to scapy Rengaraj started the topic by giving a small introduction to the network OSI layer. Then he went on to explain how a network flows for https request using scapy. He did a packet capture and started explaining the packets. 1. When explaining DNS there were some questions /etc/hosts file, he actually dont know how hosts file is used as dns resolver. 2. He was unable to complete TCP handshake, ssl handshake and then application data transfer because the time was already up. ## Talk 2 Python Interning Suresh explained about the introducing feature in python. 1. How it can be used to optimize dictionary lookup faster. 2. he explicitly intern strings using the intern method. ## Networking tea break Before the break Vijay asked the audience to come forward and say their domain expertise so that people who want to discuss can meet them and discuss during the networking tea break. ## Talk 3 Air pollution talk Arthi presented a topic how deepawali affected the air pollution using sentinel api # Talk 4 Embrace the grind Shrayas gave a quick 10 mins talk on why we should try deploying things from scratch to face all the issues before moving to frameworks or any tools to make our life easy and not facing issues. He insisted on a quote that "If you don't see the problem, you will never appreciate the solution". ## Closing notes Praveen wanted to give a lightning talk. We asked him to move the talk since there was no time. 1. Rengaraj Thanked all the speakers and audience. 2. He also thanked the volunteers Arthi and Dhanush for promotion 3. He asked people to subscribe to mailing lists and linkedin.

Chennaipy October meetup - 2024
Oct 26 ⎯ October meetup minutes After long time we were back at IMSc venue Alladi Ramakrishnan hall.Initially we were only four people at the venue.I had a fear of not getting audience already. We waited till 3:15 PM after that hall got filled in 5 minutes.I got relieved and happy that people joined. First talk was by Shrayas He gave concise talk which explained 1. Using llm locally instead of sending your data to the cloud. 2. He used ollama locally to classify spam mail. 3. He gave his gmail content as input to ollama to keep or delete mail. 4. By which he is able to delete all spam mails. Second talk was by Arthi She gave a talk on how she used neural networks and image processing to find lung cancer from CT image. 1. She explained about neural networks and how it is useful. 2. She showed a demo to find lung cancer using CT image. 3. She plotted charts for accuracy of each find. Discussion before Tea Mean while there was a question about how to train new images from the audience. An excellent discussion was triggered from where Arthi finished her talk. Abinav Ravi went deep on some of the use cases in medical field and it is not accepted for production because regulators asking for 99.9 % accuracy. Networking tea break We had a 30 mins break Few people asked me for water. I really forgot the location. Then eventually some of them find out and told me that water is placed near the dead end of the corridor. Next time we will correct this. Ok Move on to the last talk. First Lightning talk was by Abinav Ravi This talk he gave a good insight on Rev and UV and how it can be used to fasten the docker build. He showed the performances of the various tools. Second Lightning talk was by Rengaraj I want to give an intro to Python. There were two people are new to python. I showed them few examples like how python is really useful in getting started and a good first programming language. I also told them my story of getting in to programming world to give them some confidence to get started. Closing notes by Rengaraj 1. Thanked everyone to come forward to attend the meetup 2. Thanks to the speakers 3. Thanked IMSc and Prof. Amritanshu Prasad for the venue arrangements 4. Arthi suggested to using Instagram, Shrayas also insisted to have Instagram. I to agree it is good to have an Instagram account. The question is given the bandwidth of volunteers time is it really possible to engage people in multiple platform. 5. There are few people suggested to have list of topics can be discussed at chennaipy for upcoming meetups. 6. We asked them to send the topics they want to hear to chennaipy@python.org
